What are the most affordable online MPH programs?

The most affordable online MPH programs cost between $10,000 and $15,000 for undergraduate students, depending on whether students opt for a public in-state school (which is usually less expensive) or private school. Graduate students can expect to pay around $10,600. There are, however, some schools and universities that offer MPH programs for less than this. The majority of programs are priced around $25,000 and upwards.

Generally, the most affordable MPH degrees are regionally accredited rather than accredited by the National Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH). Double-check accreditation, and also investigate best value offered. You will find that it is the non-profit universities and colleges that offer the best value for money overall.

Some of the most affordable online MPH programs include:

  • New Mexico State University offers one of the cheapest online MPH degrees, costing from $7,254 and the University of Illinois; Springfield offers an MPH from only $8,238.
  • American Public University, which has its academic offices in Charles Town, West Virginia, advertises its online degree costs as $8,038 for undergraduates and $7,125 for graduates, including tuition, fees, and books. It does, however, depend on the number of credit hours required for the degree, and could cost as much as $15,000, since APU currently charges undergraduate students $250 per credit hour, and graduate students $325 per credit hour. This online MPH program is offered by the university’s School of Health Sciences.
  • The University of West Florida, based in Pensacola, is recognized as providing one of the most affordable MPH programs in the US, costing around $15,000. The online MPH program is offered by the University’s Department of Public Health, Clinical and Health Sciences.
  • The University of North Carolina’s online MPH at Charlotte is priced just over $15,000, while Liberty University, which is the biggest private non-profit university in the US, requires 42 credit hours for its MPH, and it charges $540 each, totaling $22,680
