Earning an online MPH from a reputable school is a great way to take your career to the next level. When competing with others for a coveted promotion, having an MPH degree can often be the deciding factor, helping you stand out from your coworkers and move up. But earning an MPH takes a lot of time, right?
While it is true that most online MPH degree programs take at least two years to complete, there are some schools that have programs that can be completed in only one year. Since time is money, the less time it takes you to earn the credential, the faster you can reach your goals. Why take any longer than is absolutely necessary to earn a promotion so you can earn more money?
The George Washington University – the largest university in Washington, D.C. – also offers an online MPH degree program that can be completed entirely online. Four concentrations are available in the program including health communication, health policy, program planning and evaluation, and global health. 45 credits are required to graduate in addition to the completion of an on-site practicum at one of 39 locations across the United States.
The George Washington University’s online MPH degree program is highly flexible. Students can take as long as four years to complete it, and an option to complete the program in only one year is also available. The work load in the one-year program is demanding, however, and students who receive permission to enroll in the accelerated program are not permitted to work as long as they are students.
The prestigious Johns Hopkins University offers an innovative and flexible MPH degree program that was designed specifically for working professionals. Twelve concentrations are available in a variety of common public health disciplines. Three program start dates are available each year and all courses are offered in eight-week terms.
The Johns Hopkins MPH degree program was designed to be completed in 2-3 years, but the school also offers an option to complete the program in only 11 months. The 11-month program does require a full-time commitment as well as special permission from the school to participate. This means that it would not be possible to work and complete the degree in less than one year at the same time.
The Johns Hopkins MPH degree program is mostly online with short residency requirements totaling four weeks on campus. These four weeks do not have to be back-to-back and may be broken up.
The University of Southern California (USC) – one of the nation’s top-ranked universities – offers an MPH degree program that can be completely entirely online without any visits to the campus in Los Angeles. The program requires the completion of 47 credits and a 400 hour practicum to graduate.
Similar to the Johns Hopkins program, the USC MPH degree program was designed to be completed in two years. However, the option to complete the program in only one year is available. Four concentrations are available including Biostatistics & Epidemiology, Health Education & Promotion, Global Health Leadership, and Geo Health.
