The University of South Florida (USF) College of Public Health is a recognized leader in online education. The USF MPH degree programs are coordinated by highly-qualified teams at the university that partner with teaching and multimedia experts using cutting edge technology to prepare and deliver courses. These include discussion forms, streaming media and web conferencing, as well as blogs, podcasts, and access to relevant wikis.
The USF College of Public Health offers a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree in a number of different concentrations, offering varied opportunities for specialized areas of activity and future employment.
There is an online, fully accredited MPH in Public Health Practice as well as an MPH in Public Health Administration. Many of the students who enroll in the MPH Public Health Practice program are already actively employed in the field of public health. The course not only advances their knowledge and skills, but also provides the opportunity to interact with other dedicated professionals.
Some of the other concentrations offered on campus are Global Disaster Management and Humanitarian Relief; Health Safety and Environment; Infection Control; Epidemiology; and Social Marketing, all of which have special features and focuses. The Global Disaster Management and Humanitarian Relief MPH, for example, prepares humanitarian aid workers with the skills and abilities to work at a supervisory level in a wide range of environments from areas of armed conflict, to places that have been struck by natural disasters. Ultimately students are trained to help reduce threats of global public health, and deal with them when they occur.
Because some of the USF MPH degree programs are entirely online, the College has very strict requirements in terms of technology skills and equipment. These range from the need for high-speed Internet to basic knowledge of word processing, email, state regulations, and spreadsheet programs.
