Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska has an online Master of Public Health (MPH) degree that is offered through its School of Medicine, which is aligned with the university’s Catholic, Jesuit values of service and social justice to others.
Focusing on healthy policy and ethics, and public health services administration, the program has been designed to provide students with strategies and skills that will enable them to create programs for populations that are at-risk, especially those that don’t have access to proper health care facilities. The ultimate aim of the Creighton University online MPH degree program is to create tomorrow’s leaders in the varied environment of public health care, so that they can leave a lasting public impact.
The Creighton MPH is top ranked and renowned worldwide. It features an interactive core curriculum that is also dynamic, providing a choice of two basic concentrations to match professional goals and career interests.
The health policy and ethics concentration tackles areas of health care reform, health-related law, and bioethics. The MPH opens doors to jobs in institutional, state, and federal areas where health policy is developed. The challenge is to learn how to examine the cultural, societal, and economic forces relating to health and well-being, so that these may either be created or minimized.
The public health services administration concentration option gives students the chance to gain management and leadership skills that will enable them to be employed in positions of authority. Ultimately, the goal is to be able to positively influence those in organizations that promote public health from within. The course itself focuses on the economics of health care, and also provides an understanding of the political and social forces that influence public health service delivery. Students are also taught management strategies that can be used within public health organizations.
