The University of Florida (UF) College of Public Health and Health Professions aims to lead the development of innovative models of research, service and education, and promote collaboration between health care and public health professionals. Founded in 1958, it was originally conceived as a health center that would promote good health and ways to prevent disease, and as such has been a pioneer in public health education ever since.
The UF College of Public Health and Health Professions offers a 100 percent online Master of Public Health (MPH) program for candidates who are either employed full-time or who cannot travel to the university to participate in the program on campus. There are two options in terms of the length of program, both of which depend on the prior degree of the candidate.
A range of up-to-date contemporary courses is offered in the UF MPH program. These are in the fields of health policy, health management, environmental health, social and behavioral sciences, biostatistics, and epidemiology, all with a definitive focus on public health practice. The curriculum itself has been designed to provide graduates with suitable competence in the various areas of public health service.
The College uses up-to-date technology for its online courses, including user-friendly software and detailed online handbooks that have been developed to guide technical and academic applications. While there is no obligation to visit the UF campus in Gainesville to be in a position to complete the MPH degree, the university does offer the opportunity to students wishing to do so. There are, of course, also ongoing opportunities for students to interact online with faculty educators as well as staff who supply technical support.
UF belongs to the Association of Schools & Programs of Public Health, and the UF MPH program is accredited by the official Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH).
